Usually a car dealership is just a car dealership. But during the weekend of Dec. 7, Island Subaru was more–the Maui auto retailer hosted “Share the Love,” a day dedicated to pet adoptions and charity for Big Brothers and Sisters Hawaii.
Island Subaru accepted clothes, household items and pet supplies for Big Brothers and Sisters while pet lovers met the animals on hand, courtesy of the Maui SPCA.
The dealership waived pet adoption fees for current and new Subaru owners. The company also gave out a $25 Petco gift card and bag of Ilio Dentals Teeth Treat for every pet adoption during the event.
SPCA Maui held drawings for free dog and cat spay/neuter treatments and adoption gift certificates. The organization also hosted a booth where customers could “Ask the Veterinarian” questions about pet vaccinations. In addition, SPCA Maui offered pet nail trims, canine dental exams, skin, coat and behavioral consultations and pet photos.
“A warm mahalo goes out to the community for their support of Share the Love day,” said Glenn Inouye, the Senior Vice President representing the Subaru Hawaii Dealers. “We are thrilled that so many pets have found loving homes and are touched by the community’s generous donations of clothes, household items, and much needed pet supplies.”
The charity drive for Big Brothers and Big Sisters Hawaii will continue through Dec. 31. People are urged to donate household supplies and clothing at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii collection bins set up at the dealership.
