The tiny house movement is getting big on Maui. Most notably is the blog and Facebook page Tiny House Hawaii, which recently passed 5,000 Likes on Facebook. The blog is ran by Erik Blair, a local social media entrepreneur who builds websites, advocates for coworking and advocates the downsizing of domociles.
Tiny houses are actual houses, just, well, tiny–often 300 square feet or less. They’re built from traditional construction materials but often sit on trailers. It’s trailer living, but not. Simple living is the goal, and the members of the movement, much like crossfitters and vegans, can’t shut up about their passion.
