Yeah, it’s a big deal when Costco opens up a gas station on Maui. Not only is it the biggest station on the island, it is Costco’s biggest in the nation with 20 pumps. The new station appears to be driving gas prices down as well, with gas stations in Wailuku suddenly offering gas around $4.20 a gallon.
Mayor Alan Arakawa was the second to pump gas at the station’s opening. The first was a 93-year-old male Costco member selected by the company. Arakawa pumped gas into a Maui Food Bank delivery truck.
Costco’s station is not the only membership-based station on Maui. There’s also the Hawaii Fueling Network and the Maui Oil Company.
