We know it’s the hardest job in the world, and moms should be honored every day of the year, but Mother’s Day only comes once a year. So what do you do? Here are some great events on Maui to honor your mom.
Whole Foods is kicking off Thursday with a Mom-o-Rama 10am-1pm with free acupuncture consultation, demos and gifts ideas. The first 50 moms will get a small goodie bag. At Brazilian Beauty Boutique, you can line up mom with two Tropical Sensation pedicure gift certificates and receive $5 off or get one signature massage gift certificate and receive a free reflexology service if you buy them by May 10.
We’ve got the mother-load of hot spots to treat the special lady in your life! Treat mom to a day of ono grinds with a side of rest and relaxation. Whether she’s a early riser or late starter, eateries islandwide want to help you make her day fabulous.
At Buzz’s Wharf, hele mai to Ma‘alaea Harbor and treat your mom to one of two Mother’s Day specials. Between 10am and 2pm, enjoy the Makuahine brunch buffet with all or the evening Makuahine dinner buffet, which starts at 4pm and consists of prime rib, huli huli chicken, seafood curry, creamy linguine, assorted dessert and salad.
Or you can take mom back to the good ‘ol days with Hawaii’s duo, HAPA. Enjoy a noon brunch with Hapa at Casanova! Already ate? No worries–just catch the show-only seats at 2pm. If mom is an early bird, start at Charley’s for their 7am breakfast and drink specials. Does your mama like tequila? Then celebrate her day her way with the Tequila de Mayo specials going all month at Milagros.
You can also treat mom to breakfast with da sistas! Four Sisters Kitchen will feature an omelette station, carving station and desserts. Guests are welcome to bring their own beer or wine as well. If a fancy brunch is what she wants, treat her to the bells and whistles of Grand Wailea’s Mother’s day brunch. Complete with live contemporary Hawaiian music, hula and sparkling wine, mom may feel like swaying her hips!
Take the windy road up (or down) to one of Maui’s treasures, the Hali‘imaile General Store. Chef Bev Gannon (Aipono 2013 lifetime achievement recipient) knows what mama needs: the amazing menu she has in store at her original flagship establishment.
If you’re on the Southside, Makena Beach & Golf Resort offers a few specials honoring moms island-wide. Treat her to “The Works” Mother’s Day Spa Package at the Makena Kai Day Spa. Mom will be pampered with lomi lomi, hot stones and aromatherapy. On Mother’s Day, mom can get 20 percent off her purchase at Nellie’s retail store at the MBGR. The resort’s famed brunch will also have mom feeling like a queen. The farmed meal will be prepared just the way mom would. And be sure to snap a family photo, courtesy of MBGR as well!
Does your mom prefer natural options and ethnic eats? At Monsoon India in Kihei, mom can enjoy organic, vegan and gluten-free choices from 11am to 3pm. Enjoy free rose milk, pineapple lassi and tea. The Monsoon India Lahaina location will serve Mother’s Day specials starting from noon to 10pm.
