Wine Dinner with Patrick Okubo, worlds youngest sommelier at Pulehu @westinkorvillas March 28

I’m just no longer satisfied when merely drinking wine. Each drop must eke out a learning experience for my palate. I guess the guys at Pulehu in the Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas are feelin’ me because they’ve set up a four-course dinner and champagne reception with Patrick Okubo, the world’s youngest Master Sommelier. What could be better than learning from him?

Okubo has chosen the wine that’s paired with prawns, veal sweetbreads, duck and steak courses. He’ll also say a word or two about his picks. Think of it as an evening of enlightenment, where wine is concerned.

Okubo is Hawaii’s third certified master Sommelier as well as the Pacific/Hawaii region winner of the Chaine des Rotisseurs Young Sommelier Competition consecutively from 2008 through 2010. He’s now the Enchanson Provencal. He also holds a Certified Wine Educator (CWE) and Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) from the Society of Wine Educators.
