The Maui Food Innovation Center presented certifications on September 23 to 12 individuals who made up the first graduates of Hawaii Master Food Preservers Certificate Training Program.
The 8 full day certificate program provided “hands on training” with emphasis on certified methods of proper jam and jelly making, canning, pickling, fermentation, freezing, dehydrating, food safety and the prevention of foodborne illness.
The Master Food Preservers Certificate Training course was delivered under the instruction of Ken Love, Director of the Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers Association and a renowned master food preserver and fruit forager.
