FOR THE LOVE OF MAUI 5K FUN RUN – This new Valley Isle Road Runner (VIRR) event will benefit both the Kihei Youth Center and Hospice Maui. Residents and visitors are encouraged to participate. The course loops twice, beginning at Polo Beach (just south of the Fairmont Kea Lani) and runs along Old Makena Road before turning left onto Wailea Alanui and back to Polo Beach. Valentine’s Day-inspired attire is encouraged. Race starts at 5pm (just before sunset). Runners receive an event T-shirt, door prizes and free healthy snacks from Whole Foods. HAPA PERFORMS TWO SPECIAL VALENTINE’S DAY CONCERTS – To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first release, as well as provide for a tender, romantic evening of gorgeous Hawaiian music, Barry Flanagan and Ron Kuala’au will perform Hapa’s original eponymous album, song for song. “In my opinion, Hapa’s groundbreaking first CD changed the tide and thus perception of the terminology ‘Music from Hawaii,’” Kenny Loggins says. “Hapa will always remain in my heart the hippest curators of Polynesian sounds.” Hapa will also throw in two songs from their latest EP: “Manoa Sessions” and “Ukulele Covers.” Add a four-course dinner and champagne toast, and it’s hard to think of a better way to spend an evening out. $100 (includes dinner and champagne). 5pm or 8pm.
