All hands are on deck for the islands biggest beach cleanups. The grassroots effort between high schools on Maui and Molokai, Maui District Student Council Organization (MDSCO), Coalition for a Tobacco Free Hawai’i, Sustainable Coastlines, Malama Maui Nui and Surfrider will be the first of its kind. Volunteers will spread across Ho’okipa Beach Park, Baldwin Beach (to Paia Bay), Olowalu, Kihei and Molokai (Kaunakakai) with the goal of documenting the number of cigarette butts collected. The event will aim to raise awareness while also helping the aina. Following the cleanup, volunteers will gather at 1pm at the County Administration Building in Wailuku for data gathering. 10am-12pm. maui.surfrider.org
