Shakedown II – 2008
Rushhouze Entertainment & Kracks Production
Produced by: Element Pictures
[DVD] Oh dear, here I go on an MMA tangent again. I’d tell you how I got all giddy and slightly turned on when this brand spankin’ new DVD of Shakedown, which took place several weeks back at War Memorial landed in my lap, but I’ll spare you. I got a chance to watch it earlier in the week and it was the perfect remedy for a long, hard and stressful day at the office. Kind of like one of those toys that you squeeze and the eyes pop out without having to go through the hand pain… There’s a lot of great fighters on the card, Wesley Vaituulala, Dale Kamai, Gabriel Wolff, Zack Carroll, Matt Pauole, Koloa Kahalewai, Joe Peurkert, Brandon Pieper, Justine Kline, Pat Fugaa, Sean Rivera, Bubb Ka`ahanui, Harris Sarmieno and Dominic Ahnee. There’s some cool exhibition matches between brothers Cyrus and Cane Rosario (boxing) and Jordon Kakino and Josh Nakagawa (kickboxing) too. Plus, Leland Chapman’s on the video and if you look closely enough your’s truly. What’s not to love?
Darkly Dreaming Dexter
By: Jeff Lindsay
[BOOK] I read the book before I watched the show and I’ll admit that I wrote that with a self-righteous sneer. Sure, Dexter’s a great show. His sister’s adorable and for a serial killer Dexter is pretty damn fine. But, if you want to really get into Dexhead you need to read the book. Yes, it’s gory and terribly violent. Yes, it’s controversial, but isn’t that what makes it grand? Admit it. You love Dexter as much as I do.
A Dose of Murder
By: Lori Avocato
[BOOK] Stephanie Plum fans, can you hear me? I know you’re out there because when I went to buy Fearless Fourteen, the latest installment in the Janet Evanovich series the other day from Borders, they were almost out. Anyway, I bet most of you have already finished the book and are suffering anxiety whenever you remind yourself that it’ll be a full year before you get more Ranger. I say Ranger because Morelli’s unavailable. He’s mine. Back off. Anyway, please read A Dose of Murder. You’ll thank me. It’s almost as good as a Plum book, similar in humor and a great easy read for the beach. MTW
