David Spade always plays unlikable, snooty characters, yet, inexplicably, seems as if in real life he would be a pleasant person. If you’ve ever taken a sick day, you know that he’s the squirrely little blond man who spends the morning cheerfully torturing his co-workers in “Just Shoot Me,” then also pops up during an hour of afternoon programming in re-runs of “8 Simple Rules.” While the acting of most daytime TV performers is mildly painful, Spade’s humor fits him like a second skin; he’s always amusing, upbeat, and cheerfully cheeky. The performance will be unpredictable… during 8 Simple Rules he is an unambitious mooch who lives in his Aunt’s house, but is supportive to his younger cousins, giving them (generally) good moral lessons. However, during his stand-up routine I would definitely not expect anything squeaky-clean, so don’t get offended when he starts talking about roofies, late-night booty calls, and the fact that he isn’t worried about Miley Cyrus and thinks that she will turn out just fine. Brian Evans, creator of The Maui Celebrity Series and opening act for Jay Leno in Las Vegas, will be his wingman for the night. Check out these funny guys from 9-11pm at the Maui Theatre, 878 Front St. for $35-125. By: Sierra Brown
