Sweet. Sugary. Sticky. Spring. Seabury Hall’s Annual Craft Fair is nestled into the coziest spot of the year; it’s that time of year where teachers are assigning movies and coloring activities to 17-yr old’s because the sunny days are too enticing even for this college prep school. One of my favorite spots at this springtime bonanza is La Patisserie, where french goodies are served to the tune of lilting classical music in the shade. The fair-style games are always a good way for a few laughs and lots of prizes; unlike at the county fair, these games are actually winnable, and there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be headed home with an mammoth-sized teddy bear. The slip-n-slide swooping down the hill is also an enjoyable pass-time. It’s admittedly not as exciting as the time(s) some bored seniors rolled down the hill in a trashcan, but it is a good bit safer. The craft fair and art displays boast beautiful, enjoyable works that make for ideal mothers day gifts. Don’t forget to stop by the flower and garden sale either, as well as the massive rummage sale. Students and other performers will occupy the stage during the day, providing fun entertainment for this outdoor event. This event supports a scholarship fund for deserving students who otherwise would not have the chance to attend this school. Come by on May 8th, anytime between 9am and 5pm. Children ages twelve and under enter free; Admission is $3 for adults; call Gayle Hart at 572-7235 for more info.
