THURSDAY, JULY 12
THE END OF FACTORY FARMING – Ignorance is bliss. The opposite of ignorance, awareness, can be rough. For example, you’re not going to scarf down a Big Mac with your usual enthusiasm if you’ve just watched Food, Inc. So how about expanding your awareness this Thursday by hearing Erik Marcus, agribusiness expert, talk about the recent popularity boost in plant-based diets and the declines in the dairy and meat industries. It’s presented by the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii. Here’s a chance to trade in that chicken wing for some chard. Free. 7pm. Kaunoa Senior Center, Spreckelsville (401 Alakapa Pl.); 808-572-8371.
