FOOD SECURITY – Despite the abundant land and natural resources, Hawaii still imports 85 percent of its food and only has a seven-day supply of food on store shelves at any given time. Scared? This Thursday, Ala Kukui will present “Food Security,” the fourth part in the Man, Woman and Nature Series. The evening will discuss the relationship of humans to the natural world. Guest speakers Karen Washington, a New York City community gardener and activist, and John Lind, a Kipahulu taro farmer, will moderate. $10. 6pm.
