‘Pohaku’ – Thu, Jul 16. The work-in-progress showing of Pohaku is a preview of the work before its spring 2016 premiere. Pohaku is a half evening-length piece bringing together modern dance, hula, classical music, storytelling and projection to explore the story of Hawaii’s native people, including land loss and fractured identity. Inspired by the work of hula master John Kaimikaua, collaborators include members of Kaimikaua’s Halau Hula o Kukunaokala, classically trained electric cellist Wytold, projection designer Sareen Hairabedian and kapa maker Dalani Tanahy. 7pm.
