What got you started in the spa, salon or wellness industry? When was this?
I have always been interested in wellness and fitness; from an early age, I have grown up giving ‘shoulder rubs’ to friends and family who were stressed out or tired after a fitness tournament. After college I went to massage school, and found my passion for healing and the spa industry as a whole. I have never looked back since…
Please give me one fitness tip:
Change it Up. The key to maintaining the results you want is to create a balanced workout, that incorporates both strength and cardio/flexibility training. You maintain optimum mobility while keeping the muscle tone to support your body through any activity. By modifying your workout program periodically, you will also be less likely to quit from boredom, and you will trick your body into constantly being challenged and therefore continue to see results. This burns more calories and keeps you motivated and excited, as well.
What is your personal favorite spa or salon therapy and where and when you indulge in it.
Two new personal favorites:
– Our Ali’i Honey Steam Cocoon which utilizes the raw honey from our very own rooftop apiary. Grand Wailea produces its own honey so the nutrients and the benefits of the raw honey that we use for this body therapy is simply the best.
The next is our Honey Macadamia Nut Immunity Booster treatment, which is an 80min indulgence.
It is such a nourishing, replenishing treatment, plus it boosts your immunity so you can take on anything! The treatment starts with a 50minute massage using honey lotion. The lotion smells amazing, and the texture allows your therapist to move the fascia (skin) while providing a soothing massage to truly moisturize and nourish the body. Next, beeswax pads are placed on your body before you are cocooned in heat to leave your skin baby soft. You receive a macadamia nut foot scrub and soothing scalp massage. Finally, you rinse off with a soothing shower and feeling like a new person.
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 20 something:
It’s never too early; Prevention through a consistent skincare program to protect and nourish your skin, as well as a healthy diet will ensure that you maintain a youthful appearance always.
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 30 (the new 20):
Best Salon Treatment: Our 30 somethings love getting Shellac manicures at the Grand Salon, because the polish dries immediately so they can enjoy their Maui vacation or get back to their conference without any downtime. Additionally, Shellac polish is the least harmful to the nails, ensuring healthier nails with less damage than some other gel polish brands.
Favorite product: CE Ferulic from SkinCeuticals. This serum helps to keep you moisturized and your skin supple, without being too heavy.
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 40 something (I know we stopped counting a decade ago):
Best Spa Treatment: Our Pohaku Hot Stone massage is very popular for the active 40 something, who needs that little extra pampering to melt the tension in neck and shoulders from our responsibilities inside and outside of work.
Best Product: The strawberry rhubarb dermafolliant from Eminence helps to quickly and gently exfoliate the skin, maintaining a healthy glow and smooth complexion.
Follow it with a nourishing night cream and always look like a million bucks.
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 50 and up:
Best Treatment: Indulging in our Coconut Baths or our Royal Niu Dream for Two is the perfect experience for our 50 somethings. Heated baths and other water therapies maintain range of motion and help with mobility and pain management in an indulgent and relaxing environment. The Coconut or Niu treatments that we offer are also extremely moisturizing and nourishing to the skin, and our Coconut facial is perfect for ageless, more sensitive skins.

Please name your most popular retail item and what it does.
Our guests love to take home a piece of Hawaii with them, and our most popular retail item is our Hawaiian Sea Salt baths, made exclusively for Spa Grande, from local Molokai salt and scented with different flavors of the islands. Perfect for those who want to indulge in aromatherapy, remember their spa day, or give to others.
Do you have a locally made product? Please describe it.
See above for salt baths.
Spa Grande works with quite a few local vendors to make products exclusively for Spa Grande. We incorporate local ingredients and process them so the essence of each product is harnessed and incorporated for maximum efficacy to the body. Our most recent product is made by ALA LANI BATH AND BODY, in partnership with Mala’ai Poi Company to create our newest Taro treatment, which uses local taro plants to create a skin vitamin boosting, after-sun treatment that is unbelievably effective.
