Holly Huden, Aesthetics Extraordinaire
Faces by Holly
How many years experience in the industry?
I have been practicing makeup design and application for the past 10 years and graduated from Spa Luna Holistic School on Maui 3 years ago.
What got you started in the spa, salon or wellness industry? When was this? Did you have any formal training?
I have been interested in makeup, beauty and wellness since I was a child. After moving to Maui and attending Spa Luna for school my passion and conception for makeup design, skin care, and aesthetics became a muse for my creativity in practicing this art form that I enjoy very much.
I graduated Spa Luna Holistic School (now located at the Maui Mall) with 650 accredited shop hours as well as certifications in brazilian waxing, reflexology, makeup application and camouflaging, and micro-dermabrasion.
What is your philosophy of design within your industry?
I am an artist with brushes, colors, and mascara. Each lovely face I
have the pleasure of working with is a canvas; each one is unique and an opportunity for me to practice creativity within aesthetics.
Where do you draw your style inspiration from? Who is your style icon?
I am most inspired by all the different faces there are to be made up! Working with natural colors and playing up the different features that come with each individual always fashions a good outcome.
What beauty product or tool is vital for life on Maui?
A good strong all natural face serum or oil for in/after sun care, a tube of mascara (for the women), exfoliant (twice a week).
If we got a look inside your makeup kit, what would we see? What is your ‘can’t live without’ product?
Lots of muted and natural eye shadow colors, lots of bright colors for fun, black eyeliner pot (a must for dramatic looks as well as neutral for wedding & photoshoots, etc), golden and pinks for the cheeks, MAC eye shadow primer.
My ‘Can’t live without’: L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara
What is your signature style, or your favorite look to create?
My signature style is black lines and full dark lashes.
Best beauty tips for the everyday woman that they don’t already know?
I have tried many different mascaras in my life and L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara is the best quality for the best price!
Make sure your skin gets a lot of moisture and sun protection from all natural oils and vitamins. I always avoid ANY skin care products with chemical/synthetic ingredients, no matter how good the brand.
Biggest beauty no-nos?
Over-plucking your eyebrows, colored lip gloss, waterproof eyeliners and mascaras.
